Tween 80
Introduction
The basic chemical composition of Tween series products is a polyoxyethylene sorbitan fatty acid ester. Soluble in water, ethanol, propanol, and other solvents, can be dispersed in mineral oil. HLB 14.9-16.9, varies with the combined fatty acids. It is a hydrophilic, oil-in-water (O/W) nonionic surfactant with good thermal and hydrolytic stability. Tween series products are widely used in food, cosmetics, medicine, textile, and chemical industries as emulsifiers, stabilizers, and solubilizers.
