Additives for Polycarbonate
Polycarbonate Introduction
Polycarbonates (PC) are a group of thermoplastic polymers containing carbonate groups in their chemical structures.
Applications of polycarbonate are electronic components, construction materials, data storage, CDs and DVDs, automotive, aircraft, railway, and security components, etc.

Anti-Dripping Agent for Polycarbonate
Anti-dripping agents (ADA) are effective auxiliary flame retardants against dripping during the burning of plastics and polymers. It prevents burning plastic from dripping off and thus meet the requirements of UL 94. The anti-dripping agent is a kind of polymer with a coating on the surface of PTFE particles. The outer coated polymer is generally polyacrylonitrile, polystyrene, and polymethyl methacrylate. Anti-dripping is frequently used in Polycarbonate and PC alloys and items as table below.
Grade | PTFE (wt%) | Encapsulated polymer | Particle size Mesh | Volatile | Bulk density | Suitable resins |
BX ADA 200 | 43 | / | <10 | <0.5 | 0.86 | PC, PC/ABS Alloy, Nylon |
BX ADA 201 | 50 | SAN | <10 | <0.5 | 0.91
BX ADA 202 | 55 | MMA | 10-15 | / | 0.95 |
Antioxidant for Polycarbonate
Polymer antioxidants can be added to improve the shelf life of the product or to improve its high-temperature stability. while adding a stability margin during thermal processing. Antioxidant BX AO 1010, BX AO 168 is used a general purpose Antioxidant for POLYCARBONATE, BX AO 626, 627, 9228, used together with BX AO 330 can be used for high-performance Antioxidant for Polycarbonate.
Pigment and Dyes for Polycarbonate
Colorants give color to polymers, plastics, coatings, inks, and fiber. Every color we see in our daily life is related to colorants. For industry usage colorants, we offer organic pigments, solvent dyes, fluorescent pigments, and titanium dioxide. In the colorant portfolio, our products are analogs to BASF and other brands.
Flame Retardant for Polycarbonate
Combustion could occur when a substance is heated to its flammable temperature in the presence of oxygen. Flame retardants are generally designed to provide a particular level of resistance to ignition or flame spread. This is achieved by suppressing oxygen availability, building up of char at the surface, inhibiting the combustion reaction within the flame area, or by other mechanics.
Halogen Flame Retardants for Polycarbonate
BX FR 245 is often used as a halogen flame retardant for Polycarbonate.
Halogen Free Flame Retardants for Polycarbonate
BX FR KSS, BX FR HES, BX FR 2025 are often used as halogen-free flame retardants for Polycarbonate.
Impact Modifiers for Polycarbonate
Impact Modifiers are substances that increase the durability of molded or extruded plastics, especially those that need to be constantly subjected to impact forces like cold weather. They are added to compounded materials to provide performance features. They provide strength and break resistance to the product for which they are added. They also provide rigidity to the product to prevent it from wrapping or sagging during everyday use. MBS and Acrylic, Silicon import modifiers are used for Polycarbonate as impact modifiers. Baoxu Chemical offer impact modifier for Polycarbonate as table below
Type | Item name | kaneka | Dow | Mitsubishi | Application | Dosage % |
MBS | BX IM 225 | M711/732 | EXL-2690 | PC、PC Alloys | 3-10
BX IM 227 | M722 | EXL-2616 | PC、PC Alloys | 1-3

Lubricant for Polycarbonate
Lubricants are a kind of additive used to improve the processing and appearance of polymers. The function of lubricants is to reduce friction, improve fluidity and mold release during resin or compound processing, and increase the surface smoothness of products. EBS, PETS can be used as lubricant for POLYCARBONATE.
Optical Brightener for Polycarbonate
Optical brighteners are used to mask yellow or increase the whiteness of plastics, inks, coatings, paper, and fiber. OB1 and KSN can be used in POLYCARBONATE as optical brighteners.
UV Stabilizer for Polycarbonate
UV stabilizers contain two types of light stabilizers: Ultraviolet Light Absorbers (UVA) and Hindered-Amine Light Stabilizers (HALS), used individually or as blends. UVA filters harmful UV light and helps prevent color change and delamination of coatings, adhesives, and sealants. HALS trap free radicals once they are formed and are effective in retaining surface properties such as gloss and preventing cracking and chalking of paints. The combination of these two families is highly synergistic. UV absorber BX UV 329. BX UV 234, BX UV 1577 can be used in POLYCARBONATE as UV Stabilizer.
